President
Bio: I have been an officer with the RSVP
Santa Rosa for six years. I was the Treasure for three years and
have been the President currently for one year.
In the community I have been a member of
the Knights of Columbus Council 7027 for 10 years, five years as an
officer. I am a member of the Geiger Squadron,
MCAA for 15 years - which supports a
number of community events.
For 31 years, I was in the Marine Corps
from 1942 - 1973 and retired as a Colonel, Naval Aviator.
Luther Meredith, Vice
President
I have been a member
of RSVP since 1989 where I serve as the Vice President of the
Board.
I served as the Commander of DAV Chapter
125 Disabled American Veteran as well as serving as Vice Commander 5
or 6 times, a Sergeant at a arms a couple of times and also a
lifetime member. I was also a past Senior Vice of VFW Post 4233 here
in Santa Rosa County. Also elected as officer of the day 4 times,
Lifetime Member.
Now I am also a lifetime member of the
American Legion Post 72 here in Santa Rosa County where I served as
the vice commander and Sergeant of Arms twice. I am still active in
all 3 posts listed above. I am also still very active in
RSVP.

I was born in Mobile, AL
and moved to Pensacola/Milton originally in 1972. I retired from
Burks Pump Division of the Crane Company, Piqua, Ohio as General
Manager in May 1999.
RSVP Association: Member since November,
2004. Became Treasurer in January 2005. I have also worked at the
2005 Senior Expo., Charity
Association: Milton Knights of Columbus Council 7027, serving on
numerous and varied charitable functions such as: Relay for Life,
Tootsie Roll Sale for the Santa Rosa
County Retarded Citizens, KOC Charity Bingo, work needed at St. Rose
of Lima Catholic Church, and support individual needs when requested.

Born June 18, 1935 and
graduated Decatur High School in 1953 in Decatur Alabama. I have
lived in the Pensacola/Milton area since 1959. I am a past President
of St. Mary's Ladies Society, St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Pensacola. Past member of Pensacola/Tallahassee Diocesan Council of
Catholic Women: Served on the Budget, Family and Resolution
Committee. Past President of Catholic Charities in Pensacola, Milton
Garden Club(presently serving as Secretary), Democratic Women's Club
of Florida, INC. Santa Rosa County. Past Region Chair Democratic
Women's Club of Florida INC served as State By-Laws Chair. Past
President of the Board of Directors Santa Rosa County Community
Service Inc. (started serving on the board in 1995).
I have been married to Fred for 49 years,
we have 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 1 great
grandchild.
My husband, Fred, and I attend St Rose of
Lima Catholic Church in Milton Florida.

Council on Aging. Served as Secretary for 2 years and served as
Chairperson of the Board for 5 years.
Currently serving :
Recording Secretary Milton Woman's Club
six years, Citizen Advisory Board for Sunland Marianna, a State
Operated Group Home for Developing Disable Persons. I currently and
have served a total of eight years as Chairperson of the
Administrative Council for Mae Edwards United Methodist
Church.
Other interests: Member of GFWC Milton
Women's Club 25 years, and GFWC Woman's Club in other communities
where I lived for a total of 53 years. Served as State President,
Mississippi Federation of Women's Club Board of Directors for eight
years, four of those years as National Gerontology Division
Chairman. First President of MET(Mississippi for Public Television).
Member Board of Directors National Friends of Public Broadcasting
for eight years. State President of Friends of Mississippi
Libraries, delegate to the Presidents White House Conference on
Aging, Washington D.C., member and Vice Chairperson, Mississippi
Library Commission.
I am the parent of John, currently
employed with the Ted Turner Conglomerate in Atlanta, GA; Jeff,
long-distance trucker, and Kathleen, Rural Mail Carrier, U.S. Post
Office.

Shackleford
Retired after 31 years
military, Vern has resided in the Milton community since July of
1966. Stationed at Whiting Field until 1969. Born in Guthrie,
Oklahoma and spent his early teens living in Oklahoma City. Joined
the U.S. Navy on his 15th birthday in March 1942.
He has had various jobs since, working in
Real Estate in Santa Rosa County and as an Office Manager for a
Personnel Recruiting company in Pensacola. Also a member of the VFW,
Fleet Reserve ASSN, Elks, and Masons.
Vern and his wife Sybil have been active
with RSVP since 1994. He is a member of the RSVP Board of Advisors,
Executive Board and the Senior Expo Advisory Committee.
He resides with his wife Sybil in Milton
and are active in the First Baptist Church of Milton.

Catholic Church, helped clean church for 5 years, mowed grass
for 3 years, helped in the Tootsie-Roll drive for 5 years,
cooked various style meals for church and Knights of Columbus
functions, assisted in building Church Pavilion and Stage, cooked
for and participated in St Rosa Lima Festival for 10
years.
